Geneva schools increase pay for support personnel

Current support workers at Geneva public schools will receive pay raises of 3.5 percent in July.

The school board approved a new two-year salary schedule Monday night. The salary schedule is an appendix to the handbook for support workers, and unlike the agreement negotiated with teachers, is not a binding contract.

The schedule takes effect July 1.

They will also get raises July 1, 2017.

The workers covered include classroom assistants, reading tutors, elementary school lunchroom supervisors, high school hallway and study hall monitors, administrative assistants, registered nurses, technology department workers and transportation support workers. It does not include bus drivers.

Starting pay remains the same for every position except lunchroom supervisor.

Lunchroom supervisors' pay was raised 10 cents per hour to $11.39. Unlike the other jobs, their pay rate stays the same, no matter how many years they do the job.
