Blue Jays recall INF Dominguez, demote RHP Hutchison

TORONTO (AP) - The Toronto Blue Jays have recalled infielder Matt Dominguez from Triple-A Buffalo and optioned right-hander Drew Hutchison back to the minor leagues.

Dominguez, who can play first and third base, hit .215 with 16 home runs and 57 RBIs in 157 games with Houston last season. The four-year veteran was batting .311 with two home runs and 14 RBIs in 17 games at Triple-A, where he had an eight-game hitting streak before being promoted.

Third baseman Josh Donaldson started at DH Monday because of lingering soreness after being hit on the left leg by a pitch Saturday.

Hutchison was called up to make a spot start Sunday against Oakland, giving Toronto's starters a rest as they complete a stretch of 16 games in as many days. He beat the Athletics by allowing two runs and four hits in 5 2/3 innings.
