Girls soccer: Geneva, Huntley, Kaneland win via shutout

Geneva 4, Elgin 0: The Vikings' eighth shutout of the season came at the expense of the Maroons in Upstate Eight River action. Kyleigh Dominugez, Emily Hauser, Jaden Ciesielski and Caitlin Farrell each had goals while Madeline Rapach-Lagowski, Jenna Dominguez and Katelyn Keenehan each had assists. Keeper Emma Harkleroad was credited with the shutout as Geneva (11-1-1, 3-0), who's unbeaten streak improved to 6 games has outscored its opponents 45-7 this season.

Huntley 3, Jacobs 0: Taryn Jakubowski recorded 1 goal and 2 assists in the Red Raiders' win over the Golden Eagles in Fox Valley Conference Valley Division action. Bri Wilder and Yulissa Solis had goals for Huntley (12-2-1, 1-0) while 1 assist came from Alyssa Kaufman. Goalie Paige Renkosik's 2 saves in net accounted for her 10th shutout in 12 games.

Kaneland 5, Ottawa 0: In Northern Illinois Big XII crossover action, the Knights (12-3-1) cruised behind Gabby Cano's 2 goals. Also scoring goals were Lindsay Penkala, Kiandra Powell and Taylor Zitkus while Rachel Lutter had 2 assists and Abbie Lomahan and Abby Taylor each had one.

Burlington Central 9, Rockford Christian 2: Down 1-0 at the half, the Rockets (13-5) exploded for 9 second half goals in the final 28 minutes to go to 10-0 in the Big Northern East. Megan Majewski totaled 3 goals and 2 assists and Elizabeth Gousios was right behind her with 3 goals and 1 assist. Jordan King notched 2 goals and 2 assists while Alexis Rosa dished 1 goal and 1 assist. Jessica Clouser had 2 assists and Anna McMahon 1. Goalie Abbi Ciganek gloved 5 saves.

CL South 2, Cary-Grove 1: Katherine Siavelis had both goals, including one on a PK for the Gators (10-5, 3-0) in this FVC Valley win over the Trojans. Keeper Annika Sevcik collected 8 saves to keep South undefeated in the Valley.

Dundee-Crown 1, McHenry 0: Alyssa Moreno's second half goal was the difference in a big FVC Valley win for the Chargers (5-6-1, 1-1). Taylor Gonio posted 3 saves in net for the shutout.

South Elgin 6, East Aurora 0: In Upstate Eight Valley action, the Storm scored 5 first half goals en route to a win over the Tomcats. Brynna Rydosz had 2 goals for South Elgin which improved to 6-7-1 and 1-1 in conference.

Westminster Christian 2, Indian Creek 2: Mel Izquierdo and Mattea Huerta each had goals for the Warriors (3-8-2) in this nonconference tie. Gianna Mackintosh had 1 assist and keeper Emily Lamp posted 9 saves.

Faith Christian 4, Harvest Christian 2: A 1-0 halftime lead for the Lions (5-6-1) was for naught as the Falcons outscored Harvest 4-1 in the second half to get the win. Rebecca Gafrick had 1 goal and 1 assist while Ellie Burzlaff had 1 and Emma Stotz 1 assist. Goalkeeper Isamar Garcia amassed 25 saves in net.
