Baseball: Dundee-Crown stays unbeaten in FVC
Nick Musielwicz and Carson Balcer had 2 hits and 2 RBI each as the Dundee-Crown baseball team remained undefeated in Fox Valley Conference play with a 7-3 Valley Division win over Crystal Lake South Saturday.
Erik Hedmark and Ben Prigge each drove in runs for the Chargers (12-5, 7-0), who got a complete game performance on the mound from Matt Weichmann (10 hits, 2 Ks, 3 BB).
Griffin Bright had 2 hits with a double for the Gators (13-3, 4-3), Cam Geisser had a double and an RBI, Michael Humphrey added 2 hits as did Scott Skwarek. Kyle Lang took the loss on the mound.
St. Charles East 8, East Aurora 1: Shawn Ligocki allowed just 1 hit over 5 innings as the Saints (11-6) won this Upstate Eight crossover. Corbin Marucco (2 hits, 2B, 2 RBI), Austin Gift (2B, RBI), Kyle Tiltges (2 hits, 2B, 2 RBI), Jim Dale (3B) and John Carroll (2B) led the SCE offense.
Geneva 13, West Chicago 2: Jack Olson had 3 hits and 3 RBI and Jack Wassel added 3 hits for Geneva (14-4) in this UEC crossover win. Jeremy Davis added a double for the Vikings and Mitchell Merges (4-1) picked up the win, allowing just 1 hit with 7 strikeouts and 5 walks in 5 innings.
Streamwood 6, West Aurora 2: Jesse Rico had 2 doubles and an RBI and Ryan Fitzgerald added 2 hits with a double to lead Streamwood (3-11) to a UEC crossover win. Jose Aguilar (RBI) and Jr Alvarez added 2 hits each for the Sabres. Colin Caminitti was the winning pitcher, going 5 innings and allowing 5 hits with 5 strikeouts and 3 walks. Ryan Becker and Logan Love had doubles for the Blackhawks (4-8-1). James Reilly took the loss on the mound.
Glenbard East 7, Batavia 1: In another UEC crossover, Luke Beckmann had 2 hits and an RBI for Batavia (9-7). Michael Fossali suffered the loss on the mound despite giving up just 1 hit and no earned runs in ⅓ of an inning as the Bulldogs committed 5 errors.
Harvest Christian sweeps: Zach Pawelek (2 RBI) and Drew Lewis each doubled for Harvest Christian in a 9-4 win over Round Lake in Game 1 of a nonconference doubleheader. Ricky Lattanzo added 2 hits and an RBI and Brock Wilken allowed 3 hits in 6 innings for the win. In Game 2, Lewis had 3 hits with a double and an RBI, Grant Young 2 hits with a double and an RBI and Wilken 2 hits and 2 RBI as the Lions (12-8) won 9-5. Dominik Olech earned the win in relief.
Newark 4, Westminster Christian 3: Matthew Schulenburg had 2 hits with a double and an RBI and Tyler Schoemann added 2 hits for Westminster (8-13) in a nonconference loss. Nic Angiulo was the losing pitcher.
Aurora Christian sweeps: Drew Wagner (2 hits, 2B, 3 RBI) and RD Lutze (2 hits, HR, 3 RBI) led the Eagles in a 12-2 win over Ottawa Marquette in Game 1 of a nonconference twin bill. Wagner was also the winning pitcher, allowing 5 hits with 10 strikeouts and 2 walks in 6 innings. In Game 2, Lutze homered again and had 3 RBI and Sam Tickel added 3 hits with 2 doubles and 2 RBI as AC (12-4-1) won 8-7. Ethan Stoneberg was the winning pitcher, allowing 3 hits in 5 innings.
Cary-Grove 7, DeKalb 2: Nick Kirk had 2 hits and 2 RBI, Tyler Pennington drove in 2 runs and Quinn Celske added 2 hits to lead the Trojans (11-7) to a nonconference win. Ben Dolezal earned the win with 3 innings of relief.
St. Edward swept: After an 8-0 loss to Genoa-Kingston in Game 1 of a nonconference DH, in which Jack Olson had a double, the Green Wave (4-14) fell to the Cogs 11-3 in Game 2. Jason Allen had 2 hits with a double, Matthew Schimbke a double and 3 RBI and Karl Bibler a double for St. Edward in Game 2.
