Western Indiana drug court to close due to lack of funding

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) - A western Indiana drug court is coming to an end because officials have run out of funding.
The Vigo County Drug Court based in Terre Haute is set to close by December. That will end its mission to offer participants an alternative to incarceration through court-supervised intensive treatment.
The program has allowed participants a second chance to get clean and turn their lives around.
But WTHI-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1XHiJwq ) officials said the Vigo County Council didn't have any funds for the program and they're making the decision to end the special problem-solving court.
Indiana's first drug courts began in 1996.
