Fire damages home near Mundelein

No injuries were reported in a fire near Mundelein Monday night, authorities said.

The Countryside Fire Protection District was notified at 6:30 p.m. Monday of structure fire in a two-story home in the 18000 block of West Hickory Street, authorities said.

Firefighters first arriving at the scene discovered a blaze on the exterior deck of the home that had started burning the eaves of the second floor, authorities said.

Everyone was out of the home when firefighters arrived, authorities said. Crews extinguished the outside blaze, then checked for any additional fire inside, authorities said.

The cause of the fire and the total damages are unknown and still under investigation.

Fire departments from Mundelein, Libertyville, Lincolnshire, Lake Zurich, Long Grove, Wauconda, Knollwood, Barrington, Lake Bluff, Deerfield and Lake Forest assisted Countryside with the blaze.
