Antioch Township woman charged in shooting

An Antioch Township woman was in custody at the Lake County jail on Sunday facing felony charges alleging she shot a man in the hand during a domestic dispute at her home early Saturday.

Vickie V. Orsini-Harvey, 54, of the 25400 block of West Hilldale Avenue, is charged with aggravated battery with a firearm, aggravated discharge of a firearm, aggravated domestic battery causing great bodily harm and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, Lake County Sheriff's police said.

According to sheriff's police, deputies were called to the home at about 12:30 a.m. Saturday after the shooting victim called 911.

Authorities said a verbal dispute between Orsini-Harvey and the victim first turned violent when she hit the man with a metal pipe. She then got a handgun and fired twice, striking the victim in the hand and causing damage to the home, sheriff's police said.

The victim was taken to Advocate Condell Hospital in Libertyville, where he was treated and released, authorities said.

Sheriff's police said Orsini-Harvey admitted her role in the shooting. She is being held in the county jail on $500,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court May 10.
