Boys volleyball: Lake Forest tops Stevenson in Lake County tourney title matchup

Lake County Invite: Lake Forest won the Lake County boys volleyball invitational on Saturday in dominating fashion, sweeping Stevenson in the championship game, 25-20, 25-21.

For Stevenson, Mark Kanaris had a team-leading 6 kills in the match while setter Jeffrey Wang rolled up 13 assists.

The Patriots defeated Zion-Benton to get to the championship match. Against the Zee-Bees, Alex Pieprzycki had 7 kills, Leo Chen and Kanaris each had 6 kills and Hudson Havenhill had 5 kills.

Setter Jeffrey Wang had 28 assists and Jeremy Sandrof had 7 digs.

Lakes got fifth place in the tournament, Carmel got sixth, Grant got eighth, Mundelein got ninth, Antioch got 10th and Grayslake North got 11th.

After a slow start with two straight losses, Mundelein ended with three straight wins.

Abram Nazario finished the tournament for Mundelein with a team-leading 24 kills while Linden Ewing and Nickolai Kalinoski each had 18 kills.

Ewing also had a team-high 8 blocks and rolled up 58 assists.
