Baseball: St. Charles East downs Kaneland

Joe Sclarrino went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI to lead St. Charles East's 12-hit attack Friday as the Saints downed Kaneland 8-1 in a nonconference baseball game at Kaneland.

Jim Dale (2 hits, 3B, RBI), Niki Klebosits (3B), John Carroll (2 hits, RBI) and Carlos Pasillas (2 hits, RBI) also stood out for the Saints (7-5).

Keagan Kochis earned the win on the mound as he and Jon Recchia combined to allow Kaneland (2-5) just 3 singles - by Jake Marczuk, Jacob Violett and Jack Weigand.

Clark Hendricks took the loss for the Knights.

Batavia 18, East Aurora 0: Ethan Krumwiede threw a five-inning 2-hitter with 4 strikeouts and 1 walk as the Bulldogs (7-2, 4-2) rolled to an Upstate Eight win. Jimmy Roach (2 hits, RBI), John Lemon (2B, 2 RBI), Glenn Albanese, Jr. (2 hits, 3 RBI), Michael Downs (2 RBI), Tyler Munoz (2 RBI), Jared Martin (2 RBI) and Ben Lynam (2B) led Batavia's offense.

Burlington Central 4, Dundee-Crown 3: Winning pitcher David Lauber and reliever Anthony Larson scattered 5 hits as the Rockets (7-6) won this nonconference game. John Murphy had 2 hits for BC, which got RBI from Ryan Knowlton, Lauber, Josh Noeska and Jimmy Fay. Carson Balcer had 2 hits including a double for D-C (7-5). Brett Buske took the loss.

Huntley 9, Glenbard East 1: In a nonconference game, Tyler Koss had 2 doubles and 2 RBI, Trevor Ranallo 2 hits and an RBI, Charlie Nugent 2 hits and Alec Coss 2 hits including a double and an RBI for Huntley (9-4). Brad Model added a double for the Red Raiders, who got a win on the mound from Nick Laxner (6 IP, 3 hits, 12 Ks).

St. Charles North 8, Lake Park 1: At Boomers Stadium, John Lagare (2 hits, RBI), Tyler Mettetal (2 hits, 2B, 3B, RBI) and Zach Mettetal (2 hits, 3B, 2 RBI) led the North Stars (9-2) to a nonconference win.

Hampshire 9, Larkin 5: Tyler Maglaya had 2 hits with a double and an RBI while Matthew Wians added a double and an RBI and Alex Mahaz a double for the Whip-Purs (7-7) in this nonconference win. Anthony Chomenko started and was the winning pitcher. Kobe Mounivong (4 hits, 2B), Andy Bonnot (2 hits), Zach Edgar (2 hits) and Keonne Mebane (2 hits, RBI) led Larkin (2-9). Gunnar Boley was the losing pitcher.

Cary-Grove 2, Glenbrook South 1: Tom Neilson and Michael Eleftheriou scattered 5 hits over 12 innings to lead Cary-Grove (9-5) to a marathon nonconference win. Neilson also had an RBI while Zach Willis (2B) and Jake Kuhl each had 2 hits for the Trojans.

Wheaton Academy 14, Aurora Christian 8: Drew Wagner had 2 hits with a double and an RBI and Drew Henning added a triple and an RBI for Aurora Christian (7-3-1) in a nonconference loss. Jacob Brothers suffered the loss on the hill for the Eagles.
