Softball: Larkin earns first win of season

Gloria Stoltz went 3-for-3 with 2 doubles, a triple and 3 RBI and Haley Bohne was 2-for-4 with a home run and 3 RBI as Larkin won its first softball game of the season, defeating East Aurora 8-3 in an Upstate Eight game in Elgin Friday.

Jenny Beltran added 2 hits and Alexa Urbank had a double and an RBI for the Royals (1-9).

Hannah Gross was the winning pitcher, allowing 5 hits with 3 strikeouts and 3 walks.

Jacobs 9, Cary-Grove 1: Emily Borg was 4-for-4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI to lead the Golden Eagles (2-2, 2-2) to a Fox Valley Conference win. Alexis Addante (2 hits), Sarah Murray (2 hits, 2B), Kerri Healy (2 hits, 2B, 2 RBI) and Teaghan Richman (3 hits, RBI) also contributed to the offense. Brittany Feldmann was the winning pitcher, allowing 4 hits with 6 strikeouts and 1 walk. Bri Prank had a double for Cary-Grove (3-6, 2-2) and Rachel Stanley suffered the loss in the circle.

St. Charles East 4, South Elgin 3: Jordan Hieber had 2 hits with a double and 2 RBI and Rylee Stout added a double and 2 RBI to lead the Saints (9-1, 3-1) to an Upstate Eight win. Jordan Hall was the winning pitcher. Alissa Hargett and Amber Derr (RBI) had 2 hits for South Elgin (4-9, 2-4) and Bailey McClure added a double. Paige Solomon was the losing pitcher.

West Chicago 6, Elgin 1: Jessica Rago struck out 15 but Elgin committed 5 errors in this UEC loss. Jamiyah Stewart had a double for the Maroons (2-8, 1-3).

Geneva 15, Glenbard East 3: Annika Radabuagh and Kaitlyn Plocinski each had doubles and Sarah Baurer 2 RBI to lead the Vikings (8-3, 4-2) to an Upstate Eight win. Plocinski earned the win, giving up 2 hits with 8 strikeouts and 4 walks.

Hampshire 13, Woodstock 0: In the Fox Valley, Joslyn Nelson (2 hits, 4 RBI) and Peyton DeChant (2 hits, 2 RBI) each had home runs for Hampshire (7-3, 3-1). Sarah Bowen and Melissa Esparaza (2 RBI) had 2 hits including a double each, Lauren Egger (RBI) had a double as did Jasmine Lopez and Ellie Lapi (RBI). Nelson was the winning pitcher, allowing just 4 hits.

ACC 10, St. Edward 3: The Chargers rapped out 16 hits in this Metro Suburban West win. Leading the way for Aurora Central (8-5, 2-1) were Val Litrenta (3 hits, 3B), Maddie Reinecke (3 hits, RBI), Paige Miller (3 hits, 2B, 2 RBI), Bridget Butler (2 hits, 3 RBI), Tessa Cwinski (2 hits), Jessica Eallonerdo (2 RBI) and Julia Dickerson (2 hits). Miller was the winning pitcher with relief help from Dani Brown. Devyn Ernst (2B, RBI) and Allison Stratman (2 hits, RBI) each had doubles for St. Edward (4-2, 3-1). Jessy Kramp was the losing pitcher.
