Wall: Wizards' failure to make playoffs 'a wasted season'

WASHINGTON (AP) - Wizards point guard John Wall says having nine players on expiring contracts led to a contentious atmosphere around a team that failed to make the playoffs.

Wall also says Wednesday, when he is sitting out Washington's final game, that while he and coach Randy Wittman had a shouting match at practice late in the season, the pair has "a great relationship."

Wall and shooting guard Bradley Beal, who also missed Wednesday's game, delivered their end-of-season thoughts at news conferences.

Wall calls it "a wasted season to me," because of missing the playoffs after two consecutive trips to the second round.

Beal says it was a "rocky year" and says everyone is responsible.
