Baseball: St. Charles North sweeps Streamwood

St. Charles North's baseball team banged out 14 hits Thursday in a 14-4 Upstate Eight River win over Streamwood, completing a North Stars' sweep of the series.

Leading the way for SCN (8-2, 5-0) were Raph Rhoades (3 hits, RBI), Jake Chantos (2 hits, 2B, 2 RBI), Luke Corcoran (2 hits, RBI) and Zach Fick (2 hits, RBI). Tyler Mettetal added a double and an RBI. Andrew Winkleman earned the win on the mound with relief help from Blake Saltsmann and Jason Shanner.

Streamwood (1-9, 0-5) had just 2 hits in the game, both by Jose Aguilar. Tim Crom was the losing pitcher.

Hampshire 6, CL Central 4: Noah Schrader was 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI to lead the Whip-Purs (6-7, 2-3) to a Fox Valley Conference Fox Division win. Tyler Maglaya, Jacob Manning and Michael Kruse also drove in runs for Hampshire. Manning picked up the win in relief.

Westminster Christian 11, Alden-Hebron 5: Mason Runkel had 3 hits with a triple and 2 RBI, Nathen Martinez had 2 hits with a double and 3 RBI and Theron Dorsey drove in 2 runs as Westminster (4-11, 3-0) won this Northeastern Athletic Conference game. Matthew Schulenburg was the winning pitcher in relief of Runkel.

CL South 7, Grayslake North 2: Nick Van Witzenburg had 2 hits including a home run and 2 RBI as Crystal Lake South (10-0, 2-0) remained unbeaten with this FVC win. Griffin Bright added 2 hits with a double and an RBI for the Gators, while Kory Olsen had 2 hits and Michael Swialty 3 hits and 2 RBI. Winning pitcher Tyler Carlson combined with Andrew Engelking on a 2-hitter on the mound for CLS.

Jacobs 7, Barrington 5: Jacobs scored 3 runs in the top of the seventh inning to come away with this nonconference win. Cameron Wilson had 3 hits and an RBI for the Golden Eagles (10-1) while Mike Addante (2 hits, 2B, RBI), Stevie Krueger (2 hits, RBI) and Adam Kale (2 hits, RBI) also contributed. Dylan Cummings got the pitching win in relief.

Huntley 5, South Elgin 1: Joe Rizzo went 2-for-3 with 3 RBI, Tyler Koss had a double and Jeff Heinrich had 2 hits to lead Huntley (8-4) to a nonconference win. Kyle Morgan went 5 innings for the win.

LaSalle-Peru 4, Kaneland 3: Joe Laudont tripled and had 2 RBI, Will Ring had 3 hits and Luke Calabrese doubled for Kaneland (2-4, 1-1) in this Northern Illinois Big XII loss. Noah Jones took the loss for the Knights, who had 4 errors in the game.

Aurora Christian 10, Luther North 0: In the NAC, Drew Wagner (RBI), Zach Zavasnik (2 RBI) and Ethan Stoneberg (3 RBI) each had 3 hits for the Eagles (7-2-1, 4-0). RD Lutze, Dustin Barrett and Sam Tickel (RBI) each doubled. Tanner Dissell was the winning pitcherin relief of Lutze.

Addison Trail 8, Elgin 2: Eddy Ramos had 2 hits while Pat Gallagher and RJ Bartlett each doubled for Elgin (4-8) in this nonconference loss. Ramos was the losing pitcher.

Christian Liberty 4, Harvest Christian 3: Zach Pawelek had a double and an RBI and Brock Wilken added 2 hits and an RBI for Harvest Christian (6-7, 1-3) in the NAC. Chad Jakel suffered the loss on the mound.

Conant 14, Bartlett 8: In nonconference action, Mike Prang had 2 hits with a home run and 3 RBI for Bartlett (3-8). Brad Nowak added 3 hits and 2 RBI for the Hawks while Austin Hilvert had 2 hits with an RBI and Kyle Kucharski a double. Prang was the losing pitcher.

Walther Christian 11, St. Edward 8: Joe Esposito (2 hits, HR, RBI), Tyler Holte (2B, 3 RBI), Jason Allen (2 hits, 2B) and Dylan Murray (3 hits, 2 doubles, 2 RBI) led the Green Wave (3-9) in this Metro Suburban crossover loss. Trevor Odegaard was the losing pitcher.

DePaul Prep 8, Marmion 7: Matt Henkel had 2 hits and Brandon McPherson 2 RBI but the Cadets (6-5, 2-2) fell in 10 innings in Chicago Catholic Legue play. Jake Hammer was the losing pitcher.

Elgin Academy 11, Morgan Park Academy 3: Henry Stone was 3-for-4 with a home run and a triple and Karl Rauschenberger had a triple to lead the Hilltoppers (9-3, 1-0) to an Independent School League win. Eddie Joyce was the winning pitcher.
