Burlington Central Middle School student charged with making threat

A 14-year-old Burlington Central Middle School student has been charged with threatening to commit a shooting at the school on Wednesday.

According to a release from the Kane County sheriff's office, police were notified by school officials around 7:30 a.m. that a parent told them a student had made the threat.

Sheriff's deputies were at the school when the buses arrived and, along with administrators, escorted the student off the bus and determined he didn't have any weapons, the release said.

The 14-year-old boy was charged with disorderly conduct and turned over to his parents. He did not attend school on Wednesday, and there was no disruption to school activities, according to the sheriff's office.
