Softball: Stratman's big day powers St. Edward over Fenton

Senior Allie Stratman was 5-for-5 with a grand slam home run, a double and 5 RBI Tuesday to lead the St. Edward softball team to a 14-8 Metro Suburban West win over Fenton at the Elgin Sports Complex.

Also contributing to St. Edward's 13-hit attack were Emily Stapay (2B, RBI), Jessy Kramp (2B, 3 RBI), Mallory Rejman (2 RBI) and Ashley Soto (RBI).

Kramp earned the win in the circle and Lindsay Zdroik picked up the save.

CL Central 6, Dundee-Crown 1: Andrea Conway hit a solo home run and Claire Weeks had a double but the Chargers managed just 3 hits and had 6 errors in this FVC loss. Sydney Ruggles took the loss for D-C (4-6, 1-1) despite striking out 10 and walking none.

Rosary 11, DePaul Prep 3: Xandria Olsen (2B) and Riley Mccue (RBI) each had 3 hits for Rosary (1-1, 1-0) in its GCAC win. Aubrey Fisher added 2 hits with a double and 2 RBI for the Royals, Emma Molenhouse had 2 hits and Kalie Lentz and Ries Mccue each had 2 RBI. Maura Vanbogaert picked up the win, allowing 4 hits with 6 strikeouts and 2 walks.

St. Charles East 21, East Aurora 1: The Saints (7-0, 1-0) pounded out 22 hits in this Upstate Eight win and Delaney Devor tossed a five-inning no-hitter with 8 strikeouts and 1 walk. Leading the SCE offense were Sarah Kreiner (4 hits, 2 RBI), Maddie Candre (2 RBI), Rylee Stout (3 hits, 2B, 4 RBI), Devor (2 hits, 2 RBI), Maddy Stout (3 hits, 3 RBI), Paige Ligocki (4 hits, 2 RBI), Megan Daly (2 hits, RBI), Cat Crossen (3 hits, 3 RBI) and Sara Campagna (RBI).

South Elgin 6, Elgin 2: Amber Derr had 3 hits and Bailey McClure had a double to lead South Elgin (3-7, 1-2) to an Upstate Eight win. Katie Koss was the winning pitcher, allowing 2 hits and 6 strikeouts. Jessica Rago suffered the loss for the Maroons (2-5, 1-1).

Cary-Grove 11, Grayslake North 4: Alyssa Gurgone and Brianne Prank had 3 hits and an RBI each to lead the Trojans (3-4, 2-0) to a Fox Valley Conference win. Anna Whitaker (2 hits, RBI) and Krissy Weber (2 hits, 3 RBI) also contributed to the offense. Weber was the winning pitcher.

Geneva 13, West Chicago 0: Annika Radabaugh had a home run and 3 RBI while Alissa Dierks, Molly Wrenn, Katelyn Keller and Rachel Fanella each doubled for the Vikings (5-2, 2-1) in their Upstate Eight win. Dierks allowed 3 hits with 8 strikeouts and no walks in earning the win.

Huntley 10, Woodstock North 0: Tiffany Giese threw a five-inning no-hitter and went 2-for-3 with an RBI for Huntley (4-3, 2-0) in the FVC. Megan Baczewski was 3-for-3 with 2 home runs and 4 RBI and Rylie Porretto added an RBI for the Red Raiders.

Prairie Ridge 7, Jacobs 2: Jess Mrzlak and Alexis Addante had doubles for Jacobs (0-2, 0-2) in this FVC loss. Katie Armstrong was the losing pitcher.

Batavia 10, Glenbard East 6: Toni Galas had 3 hits with a double and an RBI and Jalen Lisberg added 2 hits with a double and 3 RBI to lead the Bulldogs (4-2, 2-0) in the Upstate Eight. Jena Bendoraits added 2 hits with a double and an RBI and Alyssa Klemm had a double for Batavia. Kaylan Waldron scattered 7 hits with 4 strikeouts and 1 walk to earn the win.

Hampshire 10, CL South 8: Lauren Egger had 3 hits including a double as Hampshire (5-3, 1-0) outslugged the Gators in the FVC. Adding to the Whip-Purs' offense were Aly Snider (2 doubles, RBI), Melissa Esparaza (2 hits, 2B, RBI), Peyton DeChant (2 hits, 2B), Ellie Lapi (2 hits, 2B, RBI) and Renee Malecke (2 RBI). Jasmine Lopez was the winning pitcher. Carly Chovanec and Brookelynn Maddox each hit home runs for Crystal Lake South (2-3, 0-2).
