Softball: Glenbard North defeats York

Glenbard North 14, York 8:

Kayla Quanstrum hit a double and a triple, Kaitlyn Scheitler hit 2 doubles and Gabby Melchiore with 2 for 3 with a double in the Panthers' nonconference victory. Pitcher Rushika Amin earned her first win of the season helping Glenbard North move to 4-4.

Metea Valley 14, Benet 3:

In a nonconference game that saw the teams combine for 27 hits, Metea Valley's Lisa Harrington, Megan Hinkle and Sydney Bajusz rapped out 3 apiece. Hinkle, Bajusz and Fran Senese also each drove in 3 runs. Pitcher Megan Arcivar (1-0) helped the Mustangs move to 3-4.

Lake Park 14, Rolling Meadows 4:

Pitcher Emily Frank threw the 6-inning complete game and also drew 3 bases on balls at the plate to help spark the Lancers offense. Julia Caesar smacked 4 hits for Lake Park, and Courtney Worcester had 3 hits and drove in 2 runs.

Girls soccer

Wheaton Academy 3, Plainfield South 0:

Gretchen Pearson scored twice and Jamie Netzley once for the Warriors, who improved to 5-2-1 with the Pepsi Showdown victory.
