Softball: Stevenson slugs past Lake Zurich

Stevenson's softball team rolled up 18 hits en route to a 15-3 victory over Lake Zurich in North Suburban Lake play Monday.

Gina Shanely led the way with 3 hits, including a home run, while Vera Pflugradt, Alyssa Pauly, Mic Faunce, Myra Peterson, Hanna Epstein and Sarah Brodson each finished with 2 hits.

Peterson, the winning pitcher, had 6 strikeouts over seven innings.

For Lake Zurich, Sarah Schnecker had 2 hits and Amanda Guercio had a home run.

Grayslake Central 10, Jacobs 5: Reagen Radke had 2 home runs and Lexi Waigand added another to lead Grayslake Central to the victory.

Breanna Albert, Brooke Heraty, Lindsay Brust, Trinity Buck and Morgan Smigielski also had 2 hits apiece for the Rams.

Radke was also the winning pitcher with 5 strikeouts over seven innings.

McHenry 15, Grayslake North 0: Grayslake North was plagued by 7 errors.

Jessica Vaughn had a double for the Knights.

Vernon Hills 19, Round Lake 2: Delaney Bowen had 2 hits, including a triple, to lead Vernon Hills to victory.

Dana Meline, Tatiana Guletsky and Anna Cirone each had 3 hits for the Cougars while Nicole Peiper, Rose Ferolo and Samantha Saliba each finished with 2 hits apiece.

Vernon Hills rolled up 20 hits overall.

Zion-Benton 9, Carmel 6: The Corsairs dropped the nonconference game, despite home runs from Amanda Elert, Dani DeLozier, Emma Bartz and Karina Falkstrom.

Carmel (8-2) got 2-for-4 efforts from Elert (double), Claire Petrus and Bartz. Jen Giesey suffered the loss.

Warren 6, Mundelein 3: The Blue Devils won their home opener to improve to 6-5 and 2-0 in the North Suburban Lake.
