'Unity of Color'

The David Adler Music and Arts Center, 1700 N. Milwaukee Ave., Libertyville, hosts the “Unity of Color” art exhibition, with work by Vernon Hills and Libertyville artists. The exhibition showcases portraits and paintings that reference famed artists Henri Matisse, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec and Vincent Van Gogh. Opening reception is Friday, April 8, and features wine and hors d'oeuvres along with music performed by Adler Center faculty and students. Local Ghost

When you have a good thing going, it can be hard to let it go. So even though Sean Wilke, the drummer for indie rock trio Matt Wilke's Ghost, lives in St. Louis now, the two local members - Lombard's Matt Wilke and Algonquin's John Contreras - were hesitant to burst that creative bubble. Writing songs and often rehearsing remotely, Matt and his gang brought together enough material to put out a strong new album, “Blameless Lake,” in November of last year.
