Money Smart Week® is coordinated by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and partners with The American Library Association. Money Smart Week's mission is to promote personal financial literacy. This year the Library will be offering these Money Smart Week programs:

When I'll be 60: Protect Your Retirement, Tuesday, April 26, 7:00 pm, Rajan Shah of Secure Capital Management and Secure Retirement Radio @560AM WIND discusses planning for retirement, investment and expense strategies, protecting your investments, and more. This program is designed to help pre-retirees and retirees make informed financial investment choices regarding their retirement assets.

Making the Most of Social Security, Wednesday, April 27, 7:00 pm

Social Security is our country's single largest Federal program and the sole means of support for many retirees. Financial advisor Mike Heatwole explains how to use the flexibility of Social Security to optimize retirement income needs. Also learn about the different filing options available to married couples, divorced individuals, and widows and how these alternate filing options can often provide monthly lifetime social security payments higher than the standard filing options that are typically selected.

Introduction to Medicare, Thursday, April 28, 10:30 am-noon

Lou Barnett, SHIP Coordinator for Wheeling Township Senior Services, will review all parts of Medicare as well as Medicare supplements, including the 2016 costs and the various coverages. Also learn about various Federal and state programs, such as Extra Help, that may provide assistance to Medicare beneficiaries in paying for their Medicare coverage.
