Man accused of child porn possession

Authorities have charged a North Chicago man with possessing multiple pornographic images of children, authorities said Tuesday. Preston D. Brown, 47, of the 2300 block of 23rd Street, faces eight counts of possession of child pornography, authorities said. He could be sentenced to 3 to 7 years in prison on each count if convicted. A search warrant was executed Monday on Brown by the Lake County Sheriff's Office and the Lake County State's Attorney's cybercrimes unit, and evidence including multiple electronic devices capable of storing digital media was seized from his apartment, authorities said. A forensic examination of the media devices revealed numerous videos identified as child pornography involving children under the age of 13, authorities said. Brown is held in the Lake County jail on $100,000 bail, and is due back in court April 28.
