Review: 2 sisters' secrets go viral in 'Keep Me Posted'

Cassie and Sid are sisters, best friends, and desperate for more time together. While Cassie balances twin 3-year-olds, a cramped New York apartment and a sex-starved marriage, Sid navigates life as an expat in Singapore complete with a live-in housekeeper, a constantly traveling husband and two kids.

One Christmas, after a few glasses of boxed wine, Sid and Cassie hatch a plan to become pen pals. Thus begins a yearlong adventure documented on paper (and unbeknownst to the sisters, the Internet) in Lisa Beazley's "Keep Me Posted."

Cassie writes the first letter, and in the spirit of vulnerability, confesses her worst crime (she was arrested for shoplifting in college). Sid replies with her struggles in adapting to life on another continent. The letters continue and become a diary of sorts between the sisters in which they share their raw thoughts on a variety of topics.

Between letters, we follow Cassie's escapades as a stay-at-home mom in Manhattan. Her body isn't what it was before children - and neither is her marriage - and her neighbors squint at her children's diet of takeout and pizza. All the while, she daydreams of having a home outside the city bigger than the size of a travel camper, and she ponders what life would be like had she married her now-famous ex-boyfriend.

Then, due to a myriad of mistakes, every word makes its way to the Internet, forcing a turn of events neither sister expects.

Beazley doesn't merely nail the look of upper-middle-class wifedom and motherhood, she reaches deep into her characters' wandering minds and plucks out comically relatable quips. With spot-on writing, endearing characters and deliciously satisfying plotlines, "Keep Me Posted" proves a hilariously entertaining read.
