Carnival, Norfolk Southern and Acadia climb

NEW YORK (AP) - Stocks that moved substantially or traded heavily Wednesday on the New York Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq stock market:

Carnival Corp. (CCL) , up $2.73 to $52.37

The cruise line's first-quarter results were better than expected, and Carnival raised its profit projections for the year.

Norfolk Southern Corp. (NSC), up $1.95 to $84.75

The railroad operator said it is open to a possible sale to Canadian Pacific, which has offered to buy it for $30 billion.

MetLife Inc. (MET), up $2.27 to $44.73

The insurer won a court battle as a judge said MetLife shouldn't be subject to "too big to fail" restrictions.

Lululemon Athletica Inc. (LULU), up $6.56 to $67.80

The Canadian yoga-wear company disclosed strong fourth-quarter sales.

Sonic Corp (SONC), up $2.02 to $34.58

The drive-in restaurant chain posted a larger profit and bigger sales than expected in its fiscal second quarter.

Acadia Pharmaceuticals Inc. (ACAD), up $2.20 to $26.01

A government panel recommended approval for Acadia's drug Nuplazid, which is intended to treat mental symptoms of Parkinson's disease.

Verint Systems Inc. (VRNT), down $1.70 to $33.49

Quarterly results for the company, which makes software used to analyze intercepted communications, fell far short of Wall Street estimates.

Paychex Inc. (PAYX), down $1.20 to $53.29

Investors were unimpressed with the payroll processor's fiscal third-quarter results.
