Adams struck out 10, fanning the first nine hitters she faced, and didn't walk a batter. Her perfect game was broken up in the fourth. Adams also went 3-for-3 at the plate.

Grant goes 2-1 in Jacksonville: The Bulldogs opened their season in Florida over the weekend by losing to Rock Island 9-6, before beating Regina Dominican 14-3 and Genoa-Kingston 7-6.
Grant outhit Rock Island 10-6 and played great defense, coach Chris Van Alstine said.
Against Regina, Erin Bengsten hit the Bulldogs' first home run of the year and finished 2-for-4. Freshman Megan Mitchell went 3-for-4 with a double, Kenzie Sancken was 2-for-5 with a double, Hannah McCall was 2-for-2, and Marissa Abernathy was 2-for-3. Sydney Goessele struck out five allowed 3 hits.
In a back-and-forth game against Genoa-Kingston, Grant's Becca Wold turned her second double play of the weekend. Mitchell and Maddy Nourigat made huge diving saves on the right side of the defense, Van Alstine said. Sancken, Calista Warmowski and Megan Chapman all hit triples that resulted in runs.
Leading 7-5 in the top of the seventh, Grant saw Genoa-Kingston pull within a run. But McCall then showed "tremendous poise and control," Van Alstine said, as she retired the next three batters quickly to close out the game.
"Overall," Van Alstine said, "the trip was an amazing experience and really brought the girls closer together as a team."
