Grant battles past Barrington
James Pendley had 2 hits to lead Grant's baseball team in a 7-2 victory over Barrington on Monday in nonconference play.
The Bulldogs improved to 5-1 while handing Barrington (5-1) its first loss.
Pitcher Bryan Libby got the win. He moves to 2-0 on the mound.
Lake Zurich splits: Lake Zurich rebounded from an early 8-4 loss to Normal in a doubleheader and won the second game 12-2.
In the win, Kyle Obsuszt led the way with 3 hits while Tim Ludwigsen and Trevor Niedzwiecki each had 2 hits.
Ludwigsen was also the winning pitcher. He had 2 strikeouts in two innings.
In the loss, Tyler Snep and Ben Cornelius each had 2 hits.

Robbie McGaha belted a three-run homer for Stevenson (2-1), while Henry Marchese (2-for-5, triple), Michael Marchese (double) and Brandon Grant (double) also had extra-base hits. McGaha and Patrick Loeffler (RBI) each went 2-for-4. Dylan Molek was 2-for-2, and Charlie Bourbon (1-for-2) had 2 RBI.
Kingery allowed 1 run in 5 innings, striking out four and walking three.
