Softball: Batavia sweeps Glenbard West

Lauren Wencewicz had 2 hits including a triple and 2 RBI while Breiann Cruz had a double and 3 RBI to lead Batavia's softball team to a 13-0 win over Glenbard West in the first game of a nonconference doubleheader Saturday. Cruz then went 4-for-5 with 2 doubles and 4 RBI as the Bulldogs completed the sweep with an 18-5 win in Game 2.

Also contributing to the offense in Game 1 were winning pitcher Jaelen Lisberg (2 hits, 2 RBI), Brooklyn Galvach (2B) and Tori Isom (2 hits, RBI). Lisberg allowed just 1 hit with 7 strikeouts and 2 walks in five innings.

In Game 2, Lisberg (2 hits, HR, 2 RBI), Olivia Bumbar (2 hits, RBI), Jena Bendoraits (3 hits, 2 RBI), Kaylan Waldron (3 hits, 2 doubles, RBI) and Jessica Kleist (2 hits, 3B, 5 RBI) led the Bulldogs' 19-hit attack. Waldron was the winning pitcher, allowing 6 hits with 4 strikeouts and 3 walks.

Barrington 5, Huntley 4: Barrington scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to hand the Red Raiders a loss in their season opener. Jessica Shields (2 hits, 3B), Tiffany Giese (2 hits, RBI), Rylie Porretto (3 RBI) and Taylor Pacana (2B) led the Huntley offense. Giese was the losing pitcher.

Elk Grove 9, Huntley 1: In the second game of the Barrington quad, Jessica Shields had 2 hits and Haley O'Mara a double for Huntley (0-2). Kateri Conklin was the losing pitcher.

Somonauk 8, ACC 3: Dani Brown (3 hits, 2B) and Paige Miller (2 hits, 3B) led the Aurora Central offense in this nonconference loss. Brown was also the losing pitcher.
