Softball: Rolling Meadows departs Florida at 4-0
The Rolling Meadows softball team left Illinois earlier in the week with two wins.
The Mustangs will return from Florida with two more.
Meadows won its second game in three days in Orlando by defeating First Assembly Christian School of Tennessee, 15-0, in 4 innings on Thursday morning.
Junior Lydia Schultz (4-0) struck out four as the Mustangs improved to 4-0.
Schultz also helped lead Meadows' 15-hit attack, going 3-for-3 with 3 RBI.
Other top hitters were teammates Elizabeth Elkins (2-for-2, 2 RBI), Amanda Elkins (3-for-3, 3 RBI), Megan King (1-for-1, RBI) and Meghan Slowik (double).
St. Viator 8, La Follette 1: The Lions ended their spring trip to Disney World (Fla.) with the win over La Follette High School of Madison, Wis.
"This was a great game to wrap up our trip" said St. Viator coach John Scotillo. "We had strong pitching (Grace Kaiser threw a 3-hitter with 8 strikeouts) and it was backed up by solid defense and most importantly we twice scored 2 runs after two outs."
Viator went 3-1 in Florida.
For the trip, the Lions were led offensively by Jenna Breslin (2 home runs) and Kaiser (9 hits).
Teammates Cam VanValkenburg and Haley Robinson each had 7 hits.
St. Viator also posted wins this week against Sidwell Friends School of Washington, D.C. and Notre Dame Academy of New York.
