Possible sighting, but police still seeking Aurora teen

Aurora police say they are investigating a possible sighting of a 15-year-old girl who is intellectually delayed and has been missing since Sunday night.

The sighting about 9:20 a.m. Monday involved a girl fitting the description of Jaclyn White of Aurora getting into an older brown sedan near Routes 30 and 25 over the Fox River in Montgomery, police said Wednesday.

Jaclyn is described as a black girl standing about 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing 170 pounds. Police say they're unsure of what she was wearing when she went missing, but she probably was in blue, flat shoes with gold studs and likely was wearing a pink backpack.

The driver of the car in Monday's possible sighting was described as a thin white man. Police said the car was described as similar to a 1990s Buick, possibly with two doors and "sharper" edges. It last was seen heading east on Route 30.

Investigators got the tip about the potential sighting late Tuesday night, spokesman Dan Ferrelli said. He said it was not the only reported sighting of someone similar to Jaclyn's description in the area, so officers can't rule out the possibility she was there.

Ferrelli said police will "thoroughly investigate" every lead, and they are continuing to ask for the public's help. So far, though, Aurora investigators and their counterparts from the Montgomery Police Department who are assisting with the case have "very little" information about the teen's whereabouts.

"Hopefully we'll get something that helps put the pieces together," Ferrelli said.

Anyone who may have seen Jaclyn or has information about her whereabouts is asked to call Aurora investigations at (630) 256-5500 or 911.
