Dispute leads to charges against Antioch Township man

An Antioch Township man faces charges after he displayed what initially was believed to be a handgun during a dispute with a neighbor, according to Lake County sheriff's police.

Scott R. Kisler, 51, of the 25000 block of West First Street, was charged with aggravated assault, disorderly conduct and obstructing a peace officer, said Detective Christopher Covelli, a sheriff's office spokesman. Covelli said Kisler was taken into custody at his Antioch Township house late Monday.

Covelli said an investigation showed Kisler displayed what turned out to be a BB gun after arguing with a neighbor about a barking dog.

Sheriff's police were summoned to the neighbor's house on the 42900 block of North Janette Street at 7:15 p.m. Monday, Covelli said. Responding deputies then went to Kisler's nearby house, where police said he turned off the lights.

“For a period of time, he was refusing to answer the door,” Covelli said of Kisler.

Police eventually gained entry and seized Kisler without incident. Covelli said sheriff's deputies recovered the BB gun believed to have been shown during the argument inside the neighbor's home.

Kisler was held on 10 percent of a $30,000 bond at the Lake County jail Tuesday, authorities said. He's to appear Lake County circuit court for a hearing April 28.
