Softball: DePhillips pitches Buffalo Grove past Glenbard East
Buffalo Grove junior Alyssa DePhillips improved to 2-0 by tossing a 3-hitter with 4 strikeouts to lift the Bison to a 3-2 nonconference softball victory at Glenbard East on Monday.
Leading the offense for BG (2-0) were freshman Bailey Williams (2-for-3, RBI, 1 run), freshman Kylee Gucwa (1-for-3, RBI), junior Grace Gran (1-for-3, 1 run) and Jasmin Avalos (1-for-3 1 run) and junior Katie Fontanetta (1-for-3).
Hoffman Estates 26, Larkin 4 (5 inn.): Senior Cleanup hitter Jordyn Fera went for 4-for-5 (6 RBI) with a one-out grand slam to right center in the third inning for visiting Hoffman Estates (2-1).
Other multiple hitters for the Hawks were sophomore Giselle Velasquez (2-for-4, 2 RBI, walk) and junior Brynn Connelly (2-for-4, 3 RBI, double).
The Hawks also took advantage of 10 walks and 8 errors by the Royals.
Junior pitcher Megan Amato (1-0) went the first our innings, striking out three, for the win. Velasquez threw the bottom of the fifth.
