Aurora police investigating fatal one-car crash

Aurora police are investigating the cause of a single-vehicle crash early Monday morning that killed an 18-year-old man.

According to the preliminary investigation, Bryan J. Westcott Jr., who was homeless, was driving a 2002 Dodge Ram pickup truck southbound on the 300 block of Woodlawn Avenue around 12:10 a.m. when he left the road and struck a tree.

Police said the force of the collision caused the vehicle to flip. Westcott was ejected and the vehicle went on to strike an unoccupied home before landing on top of Westcott. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:39 a.m.

The home that was struck was severely damaged.

The investigation is continuing and an autopsy is pending at the Kane County Coroner's office in Geneva.

There were no signs of drugs or alcohol at the scene and there were no other injuries, police said.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to call (630) 256-5330.
