Plane slips off runway, flips at Bolingbrook airport

A single-engine plane left the runway at Bolingbrook's Clow Airport and flipped over Friday afternoon.

According to Elizabeth Isham Cory, spokeswoman for the Federal Aviation Administration, the incident occurred about 4:15 p.m.

"An RV-6 aircraft left the runway at Clow Airport, Bolingbrook, and flipped over," Cory said. "The FAA is investigating. This information is preliminary and subject to change as the investigation continues."

Cory was unable to provide any other information regarding the pilot or the plane, explaining that the FAA never releases names or, "since we're not medical professionals," discusses medical issues.

"Everything else is being gathered as part of the investigation. Our investigations take several weeks to complete," she said.

Bolingbrook fire and police officials were unavailable for comment.

Police told ABC 7 that the pilot suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital.

According to ABC 7, the plane was taxiing on the runway when the wind caught the plane and pulled it into the soft dirt, causing it to roll down the embankment and flip.
