Bonaguidi pitches Antioch past Cary-Grove

Stephanie Bonaguidi pitched a five-inning complete game and aided her own cause with 2 singles and a triple, as Antioch's softball team beat visiting Cary-Grove 14-4 for its first win of the season Wednesday.

Antioch (1-1) received 2 hits apiece from Katie Sorenson, Ashley Stephens, Annie Wagner, Kaylee Schreiner, Jacklyn Geraty and Piper Foote. Stephens belted a 2-run homer, doubled and knocked in 3 runs.

Bonaguidi allowed 6 hits, struck out five and walked one.

Deerfield 2, Lake Zurich 1: At Barrington, freshman Stephanie Keefe allowed only 2 runs, striking out two in a complete-game effort for the Bears.

Amanda Guercio, a University of Wisconsin-Green Bay commit, homered for the only run for Lake Zurich (0-2).
