Longtime Naperville resident Bill Kottmann named CEO, president of Edward Hospital

For nearly three years since the merger of Edward and Elmhurst hospitals, Pam Davis has held two chief executive roles as the leader of both the Naperville hospital and the merged system.

Starting July 1, Bill Kottmann of Naperville will become president and CEO of Edward Hospital, leading the Naperville campus and reporting to Davis.

Kottmann was promoted to Edward's president and CEO from his dual positions as systemwide vice president of physician and ambulatory network development and president of Edward-Elmhurst's joint venture strategies division.

The health system announced Kottmann's appointment Wednesday, with Davis saying in a statement he has been key to the organization's growth.

"He's led almost every new joint venture we've been involved with and has recruited many key physician leaders to our medical staff," Davis said. "He's highly respected throughout the Edward-Elmhurst family and is well-known for his civic leadership abilities."

Kottmann has worked at Edward since 1991, first as vice president of human resources, then as vice president of operations. In 2005, he was named president of the joint venture division, expanding that role to cover the system when Edward and Linden Oaks Behavioral Health merged with Elmhurst hospital in mid-2013.

Kottmann has a bachelor's degree in environmental science from the State University of New York, a master's degree in psychology from Roosevelt University and an MBA from Benedictine University. He's lived in Naperville since 1991 with his wife, Donna, and two daughters. He is a founding board member and past chairman of the city's economic development organization, the Naperville Development Partnership.

Kottmann said in a statement that he's excited to work more closely with Edward Hospital's operational teams to build on the advanced medical care it provides in a convenient setting.

News of his promotion comes as Edward is preparing to open a new immediate care facility March 28 at 1804 N. Naper Blvd in Naperville.

Hospital spokesman Keith Hartenberger said the facility spanning the first floor of an office building at Naper Boulevard and Diehl Road will include an immediate care clinic, Edward Medical Group offices, lab services and X-ray imaging.

Three Edward Medical Group internal medicine physicians will move to the new immediate care center, where patients can get treatment for injuries and illnesses such as sprains, strains, fractures, cuts, wounds requiring stitches, fevers, cold, flu, ear aches, sinus infections and urinary tract infections without an appointment.
