Crystal Lake councilmen in lead for McHenry County Board seats

With more than half of the votes counted late Tuesday, two Crystal Lake City Council members are leading for the Republican nomination for two, 2-year McHenry County Board District 2 seats.

Results from 23 of 38 precincts as of 11 p.m. have Jeffrey Thorsen in the lead with 2,277 votes, followed by John Reinert with 2,124 and Cameron Hubbard with 1,854.

Thorsen, 57, a banker, and Hubbard, 31, a financial adviser, have served on the Crystal Lake City Council, and Reinert, 55, is a 30-year businessman and homebuilder.

The district includes portions of Algonquin, Barrington Hills, Cary, Crystal Lake, and Lake in the Hills.
