Clinton, Sanders coming back to Chicago
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders each are making a second round of campaign appearances as they battle over the home state of President Barack Obama in Tuesday's primary.
After a stopover in Vernon Hills Thursday where she spoke about jobs and improving the nation's infrastructure, Hillary Clinton is planning a second campaign stop Monday morning at the Plumbers JAC Local Union 130 headquarters at 1340 W. Washington Blvd. in Chicago.
Clinton is expected to speak at 9:45 a.m., while doors open at 7:45 a.m., according to a news release her campaign sent out Friday. Tickets to the event are available at hillaryclinton.com.
Meanwhile, Jesse Jackson's Rainbow PUSH Coalition announced Sen. Bernie Sanders will be appearing at the organization's weekly forum Saturday for a one-on-one discussion with Jackson about the "need for a comprehensive urban policy in the United States."
The public is invited to attend the 9:30 a.m. Saturday event at the civil rights organization's headquarters at 930 E. 50th St. in Chicago.
Clinton was invited to attend the forum as well, Jackson's group stated.
The two Democrats are in a hotly contested battle after a close contest in Michigan this week was won by Sanders.
Clinton is a Park Ridge native, and Sanders, of Vermont, is a graduate of the University of Chicago.
