Creative Corners Preschool holds food drive

Creative Corners, the Des Plaines Park District's preschool, hosted its annual food drive during the month of February.

They were quite successful in filling the containers provided by the Des Plaines Self-help Closet and Pantry. Margaret Nuscher, Creative Corners Preschool director for the Fabulous 4's and 5's, is pleased by the participation and feels that the children have a better understanding of the concept of sharing and being thankful.

"I can't think of a better way for the children to really learn and understand these concepts than by giving back to their community," said Nuscher.

The pantry is grateful for these food drives and encourages organizations and individuals to help collect food and clothing items for the self-help closet and pantry. They continue to seek donations of nonperishable food items, paper products and toiletries.

The pantry serves approximately 1,000 Des Plaines families every month and relies on ongoing donations to service clients.

Registration for the 2016-17 Creative Corners Preschool school year begins Monday, March 14. For information about Creative Corners Preschool and Des Plaines Park District Early Education classes, call (847) 391-5700 or visit www.DPParks.org.
