Wheaton College names Margaret Diddams as new provost

Wheaton College has appointed alum Margaret Diddams as the college's new provost, the college announced Tuesday.

Diddams graduated from Wheaton College in 1983, and is currently the Assistant Provost at Seattle Pacific University, where she has also served as a professor.

"As a professor, I have created a faithful and authentic dialogue between Christianity and my field while inviting my students to take part," Diddams said in a news release on the college's website. "In my career as an administrator, I have created structures to strengthen that work for others. I am ready to come home to Wheaton to serve and give back to an institution that has always been precious to me."

Diddams will replace Stanton Jones, who last year announced he would step down at the end of the 2015-2016 school year and return to teaching. Diddams will begin her duties as provost on June 1.

Diddams spent the early part of her academic career in the Social-Organizational Psychology Department at Columbia University as an instructor and program coordinator.

She became a faculty member at Seattle Pacific University in 1993, where she taught and was elected to serve as Chair of Faculty Governance for the 2009-2010 school year. She joined the Seattle Pacific University administration in 2010.

"Dr. Margaret Diddams is a seasoned educator who is passionate about the liberal arts and the life of faith in Jesus Christ, with broad interests across the disciplines," Wheaton College President Philip Ryken said in a news release on the college's website.

Diddams has also worked as a Senior Manager in Strategic Services at Microsoft Corporation, and founded consulting firm, DuPlissis & Diddams Associates, which focuses on survey research, organizational development and executive coaching, according to the news release.
