District 212 present 'The Very Persistent Gappers of Frip' March 11 and 12

District 212 thespians will present a group interpretation of "The Very Persistent Gappers of Frip" frin 7 tp 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday March 11 and 12, in the auditorium at West Leyden High School, 1000 N. Wolf Road, Northlake.

Characterized as an adult story for children and a children's story for adults, "The Very Persistent Gappers of Frip" is a tale about gappers, those bright orange, many-eyed, ocean dwelling creatures that will get your goat.

Literally, yes literally they will take control of your goats and prevent them from giving milk. Unless, of course, you brush off the gappers, and return them to the ocean immediately.

The persistent gapers suddenly became a problem in a village called Frip. Goats' milk is the cornerstone of the town's economy, especially to a girl named Capable and her widowed father who rely on the goat's milk as their income.

Unfortunately, two neighboring families also in the goat milk business, turn their backs on Capable and her gapper-infested goat herd. What's a girl to do? How will Capable and her father survive? And what's with the spontaneously selfish neighbors? Why don't they help out? As Capable, her father, and the neighboring goat farmers are about to learn, the answers are at the heart of "the golden rule".

On both Friday and Saturday nights, there also will be a special performance of GEEK! the district's winter play. Admission to see both productions is $2 for students and $3 for adults. For more information, call (847) 451-3623 or visit www.leyden212.org/finearts.
