Light snow could make for slippery roads during commute

Suburban residents expecting another morning of snow will be disappointed after less than an inch of the white stuff fell across the area overnight.

The entire Chicago area was placed under a winter weather advisory until 2 p.m. today, as the National Weather Service predicted 2-4 inches of snow to fall across the area.

Less than an inch of snow has hit the ground in Cook, Kane, Lake, McHenry and Dupage counties, weather officials said.

Snow was expected to develop around 11 p.m., with the heaviest rates occurring between midnight and 6 a.m. Thursday, officials said.

The light dusting of snow is still expected to create slippery road conditions, causing delays during the Thursday morning commute.

This is the second minor snow event to come through the area this week. A hazardous weather outlook from the National Weather Service said accumulating snow is likely again Friday night into Saturday morning.
