MCC to present 'Anything Goes' musical this weekend

The Black Box Theatre will present the classic musical "Anything Goes." A shining example of classic musical theater with epic tap dancing, a madcap book and a wonderfully unexpected and romantic happy ending, the unforgettable Cole Porter score includes "De-Lovely," "I Get a Kick Out of You," "You're the Top" and, of course, the great title song, "Anything Goes."

Set aboard the S.S. American, the singing-dancing ocean liner overflows with wealth, sailors, a stowaway, gangsters, an evangelist, Wall Street brokers and the most irresistible of showgirls, the brassy-but-lovable Reno Sweeney.

"Anything Goes" is directed by Jay Geller of Kildeer, with musical direction by Michael Hillstrom of Woodstock, and choreography by Maggie McCord of Crystal Lake, set design by Thomas Kesling of Glenview, lighting design by Rick Amundsen of Woodstock and costume design by Susan Cowell of Harvard. Musical conductor is Paige Lush, Ph.D. of Marengo and stage manager is Kathryn McCord of Crystal Lake.

The cast includes: Lara Bell of Johnsburg Heather Bilecki, Desmon Brock, Chloe Eskoff, Carolyn Victoria Ivancic, Lindsey Keehn, Matthew Lucchetti, Gary Mackowiak, Robert Morvay, Kara Searl, Johanna Sveden, Jacob Villec, all of Crystal Lake; Tyler Birkhoff, Maryann Bennett, Janaan Rose, all of McHenry; Sean DeGroot of Round Lake; Deanna Golenna of Huntley; Mark Kuhlman of Algonquin; Justice Lesperance, Nathaniel Miller, both of Cary; Sean Plotts of Wonder Lake; Jake Seelye of Harvard; Kacie Swanson of Woodstock; and Ariana Wasik of Trout Valley.

"Anything Goes" opens Thursday, March 3 and runs March 4-6, 10-13, 17-19. Evening performances begin at 7 p.m. Sunday performances on March 6 and 13 begin at 2 p.m.

Tickets are $10 for students, seniors, MCC employees and alumni and $15 for general public. For reservations, call (815) 455-8746 or email jgeller@mchenry.edu. The Black Box Theatre is in Building E, off Parking Lot C at 8900 Route 14, Crystal Lake.
