Guilty plea in 2014 Aurora drug slaying

A 22-year-old Joliet man has pleaded guilty to a 2014 drug-related murder in Aurora and is expected to testify against his younger brother at a March trial.

Jaquan D. Green-Hosey, of the 1200 block of Fairfield Drive, pleaded guilty Friday to first-degree murder and armed robbery of Arin T. Williams, 20, of Aurora, who was beaten and fatally shot inside a west side restaurant Jan. 13, 2014, according to Kane County court records.

Kane County Assistant State's Attorney Mark Stadojhar told Judge Donald Tegeler Friday that Green-Hosey's plea was "subject to an agreement in which he is scheduled to testify," presumably in the jury trial of his brother, Dimitri.

Jaquan Green-Hosey was to go on trial Monday in Kane County, but because of the plea faces 20 to 60 years in prison with no chance of early release when sentenced March 29.

According to court records. as part of the guilty plea Jaquan Green-Hosey is to have no contact with his brother, who has been held at the Kane County jail on $1.5 million bail since January 2014.

The trial of Dimitri Green-Hosey, 21, also of the 1200 block of Fairfield, is tentatively set for March 28.

According to police, the brothers went with Williams to La Torta restaurant, 878 N. Lake St., in the Northgate Shopping Center, under the guise of buying marijuana.

All three went into the bathroom at the restaurant, which is now closed, and the Green-Hosey brothers beat Williams in an attempt to rob him.

According to prosecutors, Jaquan Green-Hosey grabbed the marijuana from Williams and ran off, then Dimitri Green-Hosey fired a single shot from a .22-caliber handgun that killed Williams.

The two brothers ran across Lake Street to a relative's apartment, police said. Authorities said they used security camera video and witness statements to arrest the pair in Cicero less than 24 hours after the murder of Williams.

Dimitri Green-Hosey faces 20 to 60 years in prison if convicted of first-degree murder, plus another 25 years if prosecutors can prove he fired the fatal shot.
