Freight train cars derail in downtown Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Two freight train cars carrying wheat and petroleum lubricant have derailed near a construction site in downtown Indianapolis.

The Fire Department says no one was injured and no hazardous materials were spilled.

Officials say strong winds are suspected of contributing to the derailment Friday afternoon near the intersection of North College Avenue and East Maryland Street.

The National Weather Service says wind gusts of about 40 mph were recorded around the that time.
