Grayslake man charged with DUI after two crashes near Gurnee

A driver who had to be cut from his SUV after two separate crashes near Gurnee was charged Monday night with driving under the influence. The driver, Craig A. Schulz, 58, of Grayslake, was involved in a hit-and-run crash about 5 p.m. at Route 120 and Almond Road and, just seconds later, a rollover crash at Route 120 and Hunt Club Road, authorities said. Snowmobiler rescued from Nippersink Lake after falling through ice

Divers rescued a snowmobiler from the icy waters of Nippersink Lake Monday night after a Fox Lake resident heard him screaming for help, authorities said. Battalion Chief Tom Preidis of the Fox Lake Fire Protection District warned people not to go onto area lakes. “You can go in the middle of the lake and it looks like it's safe, but it's only 2 inches thick,” he said. Arlington Hts. picks police station architect

Officials in Arlington Heights have selected an architecture firm to start drawing plans for the village's new police station and intend for construction to start next year. Blackhawks rout Maple Leafs 7-2

The 7-2 thrashing that the Blackhawks dished out to the Toronto Maple Leafs at the United Center on Monday was exactly what the doctor ordered for coach Joel Quenneville's squad. Playing without the injured Marian Hossa, the revved-up Hawks jumped out to a 3-0 lead after two periods then really poured it on and made it 7-0 when Artemi Panarin, Patrick Kane, Teuvo Teravainen and Viktor Svedberg scored 8:13 apart in the third period, writes John Dietz.
