Township classes keeping us fit

About 10 years ago, over 20 of us crowded into a Maine Township room to meet our new chair aerobics instructor, JoAnn Kitching. Minutes later, music booming, JoAnn was in motion, and wonder of wonders, we were moving, too, swept along by her example and the energy in the room.

We loved it! Newfound enthusiasm overcame our shyness, discomforts and hesitations. Shortly, we exchanged contact information to call and see one another outside of class.

Now we are friends, and we -- and our doctors -- are convinced we are in good shape and forward-looking because of our Maine Township classes and these friendships.

JoAnn is fit, energetic, optimistic, upbeat, and cheerful: our role model. We push ourselves and each another, enjoy our time together, miss one another when we must be absent, and most of all, we have fun.

In a time when we hear there are too many government entities in Illinois and many people feel overlooked and think their taxes are misspent, we enjoy the variety of stimulating activities Maine Township provides its constituents and guests.

We are reaping the benefits of the township's commitment and planning. Our aerobics classes are now called senior aerobics and incorporate seated, standing and moving routines.

Call Maine Township if you'd like to join us.
