Iran sees chance to bring down 'wall of mistrust' with US

MUNICH (AP) - Iran's foreign minister says the nuclear deal with world powers offers a chance to demolish a "wall of mistrust" between Iran and the United States, but it's not a task for Tehran alone.

July's agreement led to the lifting last month of international sanctions against Iran after the United Nations certified it had met all its commitments to curb its nuclear activities.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said at a security conference Friday that "the nuclear agreement gives an opportunity to both sides to try to at least bring down the wall of mistrust that has separated Iran and the United States from each other for the past 40 years."

He said Iran is doing its part in implementing the deal, and the U.S. should also show "good faith."
