Chicago-area man sentenced to 20 years in drug case

CHICAGO (AP) - A suburban Chicago man has pleaded guilty to a drug charge and will serve a 20-year prison term.

The Kane County state's attorney office says that 45-year-old Jesus Montes pleaded guilty on Wednesday and Circuit Judge John Barsanti accepted the agreed-to sentence.

Prosecutors say deputies searched his Aurora home on March 14, 2014, and found a duffel bag with more than 16 kilograms of cocaine inside. More than $200,000 in cash was also found in the home.

Kane County State's Attorney Joe McMahon said in a written statement that Montes was part of a large-scale drug operation that, in his words, "was poisoning the neighborhoods of Aurora."

Montes pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.
