Libertyville High readies 'Witness for the Prosecution'

The Libertyville High School Fine and Performing Arts Department held a dress rehearsal Wednesday for its production of "Witness for the Prosecution" by Agatha Christie.

Last spring, Director Kevin Holly brought a group of students to the Northlight Theater in Skokie to see another Agatha Christie play, "The Mouse Trap."

"The kids were just buzzing, said Holly. "They were so excited about a murder mystery. It's not a genre they know much about. So I thought, I'm going to do a murder mystery."

"Witness for the Prosecution" tells the story of Leonard Vole, a suspect in the murder of Emily French, a wealthy older woman. Unaware that he was a married man, Miss French made him her principal heir, casting suspicion on Vole.

When his wife, Romaine, agrees to testify, she does so not in Leonard's defense but as a witness for the prosecution

The curtain will go up at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Satruday, Feb. 12 and 13, in the Butler Lake Auditorium. Tickets are $4 for students and $5 for adults. They can be purchased at the box office or at https://search.seatyourself.biz/search/?q=libertyville.
