Letter rewrites religious history
In response to Matt Bohmann's letter "A key difference between religions" on Feb. 8. He stated: "The belief that Islam's Allah is the same God the Christians worship is not controversial. It's simply and obviously incorrect."
Let me first state, I am a Christian. That being said, Islam, Judaism and Christianity all believe in the god of Abraham. None of these three religions dispute the God that Abraham worshipped.
Later on in his opinion, Matt states "Islam does not recognize the deity of Jesus," but neither does Judaism. The fact that all three religions believe in the god of Abraham, negates the writer's entire statement.
I can only hope he sees his alienation of others' viewpoints.
I am thankful that I live in a country that was founded with freedom of religion. I only hope that others can set aside their personal views to look at the bigger picture.
People who attempt to rewrite history often leave key elements out of their argument.
