Man accused of killing co-worker found guilty of murder

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) - A man accused of fatally stabbing a co-worker and dumping his body along a highway in Lafayette in 2014 has been found guilty on a murder charge.

A jury also found 43-year-old William Paz guilty on a charge of obstruction of justice Friday. He was accused of killing 26-year-old Primitivo Flores, and Paz's roommate was accused of cleaning up the crime scene.

Paz and his roommate pointed to each other when asked who killed Flores. Deputy Prosecutor Kristen McVey emphasized forensic evidence that found Paz and Flores' DNA mixed in red stains on shoes and an apartment door.

But defense attorney Thomas O'Brien said blood found on the roommate's phone cover and suitcase in Ohio where he was arrested was just as damning.

A sentencing hearing is scheduled for March 17.
