Man dies in accident at upstate NY company's loading dock

ONEONTA, N.Y. (AP) - State police say they're investigating the accidental death of a worker who was pinned between a vehicle and a loading dock at an upstate New York company.

Troopers say the accident occurred around 5 a.m. Thursday at Stericycle, a safety equipment supplier located in the Otsego County town of Oneonta.

Police tell The Daily Star of Oneonta (bit.ly/1ocCEaM) that a worker was backing up a company truck to off-load material when employee John Murphy became pinned between the truck's trailer and the loading dock.

Troopers say Murphy suffered crushing injuries and died at the scene.

Police say the investigation is continuing but won't involve any criminal charges.

The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration sent an inspector to the scene.

Lake Forest, Illinois-based Stericycle's website says it specializes in providing medical and pharmaceutical waste management.
