Slovakia's Klizan through to quarterfinals in Sofia

SOFIA, Bulgaria (AP) - Martin Klizan of Slovakia was the first player through to the quarterfinals of the inaugural Sofia Open on Wednesday.

Seventh-seeded Klizan took more than two hours to defeat Lukas Rosol of the Czech Republic 6-3, 2-6, 7-6 (4). Klizan awaits either fourth-seeded Andreas Seppi or Thiemo de Bakker of the Netherlands.

In the final singles match of the day, third-seeded Guillermo Garcia-Lopez of Spain defeated Mirza Basic of Bosnia-Herzegovina 6-3, 6-4 in just 79 minutes to advance to the quarterfinals.

Eighth-seeded Adrian Mannarino of France saved all three break points he faced in beating Evgeny Donskoy of Russia 6-2, 7-5, and lined up Marius Copil of Romania in the second round at Arena Armeec.

Ricardas Berankis of Lithuania overcame local wild card Dimitar Kuzmanov, making his tour main draw debut, 6-3, 2-6, 6-3.

Second-seeded Viktor Troicki will open his Sofia campaign in the second round against German qualifier Daniel Brands, who beat Italy's Thomas Fabbiano 7-6 (5), 6-3 .
